Artist Statement

​Lin, Chang-Rong is a scholar, curator, artist, and designer. His work focuses on the connections between contemporary society and the environment, exploring how materiality, symbols, and space intertwine to construct complex layers of power, identity, and memory. His creations reveal the subtle interactions between humanity and nature while deeply reflecting the impact of capitalism and the information age on individual identity and social structures. By uncovering the hidden dynamics within everyday life, Lin's work demonstrates the operations of invisible power and control, while also exploring how humans navigate rapidly changing environments in their search for authenticity and meaning.
林昶戎,集學者、策展人、藝術家與設計師於一身。他的創作聚焦於當代社會與環境之間的關聯,探索物質、符號與空間如何交織出權力、身份與記憶的多層結構。揭示了人類與自然之間的微妙互動,並深刻反映資本主義與資訊時代對個體身份與社會結構的影響。透過揭開隱藏於日常生活中的深層脈絡,他的創作展現了無形權力與控制的運作方式,同時探討人類如何在快速變遷的環境中尋找真實與存在的意義。

​​His works often convey the concept of "space as a body," using minimal materials and symbols to construct poetic sensory realms that reflect the fragility and timelessness of space. These creations evoke interactions and perceptions between humans and space, emphasizing the intertwined relationships between nature and imagination, as well as reality and fiction. They invite viewers to rethink their connections to the environment and their surroundings.
他的作品經常傳達「空間作為一個身體」的理念,並透過簡潔的物質與符號構建詩意的感知場域,呈現空間的脆弱與永恆性。這些作品喚起人類與空間之間的互動與感知,強調自然與想像、現實與虛構的交織關係,引導重新思考自身與環境的連結。​

This series explores how material and perception construct states of being. Moving from narrative to time, from language to space, it transforms ash-based ink, luminous edges, and subtle physical shifts into an inquiry of emergence. Between image and installation, stillness and response, the works invite the viewer to enter a space shaped by drying traces and fluid thresholds.
本系列回應對資訊、真實、空間與感知的深層追問。從語言結構走向物質編碼,從敘事邏輯退入時間與空
間的運作軌道,作品不再只是觀看的對象,而成為一種存在的構成方式。透過灰燼墨滴、冷光邊界與時間微觀層次中的物理行為,展開一場關於存在狀態與物質生成邏輯的實驗性探問。這些介於平面與裝置、靜態與互動之間的作品,邀請觀者不只是觀看,而是進入一個由尚未乾涸的痕跡、流動中的界線與無聲的張力共同構成的空間結構。

The Spatial Reality series uses light as a medium, spanning from Arctic ice to desert sands, with experimental creations in Finland, Norway, and Oman. The works explore how humans perceive and understand the fluid relationship between space, time, and existence within extreme natural environments.
透過光的介入,橫跨極地冰雪至沙漠黃沙,於芬蘭、挪威與阿曼三地進行創作。作品探討人類在自然環境中,如何透過感知經驗理解空間、時間與存在之間的流動關係。

POST TRUTH
後真實 / 2019


“POST-TRUTH” is the breakthrough after “Post-Truth” and it aims to explore the effects of world system and information space and symbol system in consumption world. Reality of virtual things is exposed after breaking the black box. Real world constructed by oneself is the free exploration of Post-Truth.
「後真實」是「真實之後」創作之後新的突破,架構於探討世界體系與資訊化空間的影響,進入到消費世界的符號體系。在後真實裡真假與虛實已經不重要了,由自身建構的真實世界,當是後真實下的自在探索。
BEHIND THE TRUTH

 “Behind The True” intends to motivate visitors to explore, reflect on, and break various black boxes and clearly judge the reality of events to avoid blindly following the trend.
探討世界體系與資訊化空間的影響,進入到消費世界的符號體系,快速且大量的訊息流 竄與支配,慾望已不復存在,取而代之的是直截了當、毫無技巧、粗暴的消費快 感,虛幻的事物只有在打破黑箱之後才會得到真實。​
